Do you know what creates peace in the home?
Being organized.
Goodness, some of the biggest stressers in family are incomplete schoolwork, cleaning, and pick up after yourself. I created 3 checklists to meet your family right where you're at.
1. Do you want your family to get the whole house clean once a week in about an hour?
Download this family cleaning checklist. There are weekly chores, and occasional monthly chores for the deep cleaning. Set a timer, everyone chooses a task, completes it, and comes back to the checklist get a new one. Work hard and as a team, and your house will be clean in no time.
2. Is your middle schooler leaving a tornado trail of "stuff" but is also constantly asking you for money to go do fun things?
A lot of times this is because "pick up after yourself" means something different to the mom than the kid. Work with your big kid to make a realistic list of chores. Each checkmark = a monetary amount. At the end of the week, your kid has earned their allowance.
3. Are you clashing with your kid over completing schoolwork and daily responsabilities?
Again, often the expectations of the parent and kids aren't lining up. Work together to set up a routine, define outcomes and consequences, and communicate using the checklist, reducing nagging and conflict.
Get all 3 checklists at a discounted price. You probably won't use them all at once, but keep them so when your family has one of these conflicts, you have a quick, effective solution.
Remember, parenting is full of things working, then not - that is normal. You aren't doing anything wrong. Though it all, I hope I'm giving you a starting point. Try this, and if it doesn't work, hold a family meeting, and change direction. Keep moving forward as a family. Lessons are being learned and everyone is growing wiser.
